How You’ll Contribute:
- Optimize and validate molecular assays.
- Design in-line quality control measures and assay monitoring strategies.
- Improve assay workflows for reliability and throughput.
- Bring up new characterization protocols using commercial kits.
- Support collaborations and pilots.
- Train and mentor other team members.
- Work with engineers and clinical lab scientists to transfer assay technology.
Our Ideal Candidate Will Have:
- High level of comfort working in a fast-paced, mission-driven, startup environment
- M.S. with 3+ years of relevant experience (preferably in molecular diagnostics), or Ph.D. with 0+ years of relevant experience. Degree should be in molecular biology, biotechnology or equivalent.
- Expertise with RNA extraction methods, nucleic acid amplification methods (LAMP and/or PCR), and automation platforms.
- Experience with clinical assay development, CLIA, or IVD environments is a plus.

As a Public Benefit Corporation, FloodLAMP is dedicated to drastically increasing the availability of high-quality COVID-19 screening programs and making them accessible to all communities. To accomplish that goal, we are pairing highly sensitive RT-LAMP protocols with sample pooling to achieve high throughput at an ultra low cost.
How You’ll Contribute:
- Supervise lab personnel
- Oversee the safe and efficient collection, analysis, and implementation of lab data
- Develop methods and protocols for documentation and SOPs
- Remain accessible to lab personnel at all times that testing is performed, providing consultation and helping to resolve technical problems
Our Ideal Candidate Will Have:
- 2+ years of experience managing a lab team
- Strong background in molecular biology, biotechnology, or equivalent
- Expertise with RNA extraction methods (LAMP and/or PCR) and automation platforms
- Experience with product development, CLIA, or IVD environments is a plus

We are seeking a highly motivated Clinical Lab Director with molecular experience to help us build our ambitious COVID-19 screening program. This may be a part-time, full-time, on-site, or remote position.
As a Public Benefit Corporation, FloodLAMP is dedicated to making high-quality molecular testing accessible to everyone. One way we are doing this is by providing schools, nonprofit organizations, and businesses with access to our ultra-low-cost, highly scalable, pooled screening programs (anchored around a clinically-validated LAMP assay). Through frequent, repeated testing of asymptomatic populations, we can enable local communities to safely return to schools and workplaces while preventing new outbreaks.
How You’ll Contribute:
- Assist the FloodLAMP team in bringing up a clinical lab for CLIA certification
- Assume responsibility for the overall operation and administration of the lab, including ensuring the competency of all laboratory personnel
- Lead validation studies
- Develop and oversee QA/QS programs and documentation
Our Ideal Candidate Will Have:
- High level of comfort working in a fast-paced, mission-driven, startup environment
- Earned doctoral degree in laboratory science
- Certification by one or more relevant HHS-approved boards
- California Clinical Laboratory Director license (or ability to apply for one)

- Track inventory and order supplies
- Perform other duties as needed
Our Ideal Candidate Will Have:
- High level of comfort working in a fast-paced, mission-driven, startup environment
- Bachelor’s degree or equivalent
- At least six months of related laboratory experience and/or training, preferably including hands-on experience with molecular assays
- Strong understanding of good lab safety practices and regulatory compliance
- California Clinical Laboratory Scientist License (or ability to apply for one)
